ABOUT ILS

Mission Statement:
Immanuel Lutheran School is a Christ-centered family where students grow in faith, experience individual academic excellence, and prepare to use their God-given talents now and into the future.

Growing in Faith Together as Family Preparing for a bright Future

Philosophy:
We believe that Immanuel Lutheran School exists in obedience with the Great Commission which Christ gave to His church in Matthew 28:18-20: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord of Immanuel Lutheran School, and all our relationships are rooted in the love of Christ.

We believe that we are serving God by assisting parents in the important work of teaching and nurturing children. Ephesians 6:4 reads, "…bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

We believe that the Holy Spirit is with us as we guide our students into a growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Relationship of the Church and School:
Immanuel Lutheran School (ILS) is owned and operated by Immanuel Lutheran Church (ILC) which is a member of the Mid-South District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Our church and school operate as one ministry. Through its school, ILC educates children in the Christian faith in all academic areas. The school is a vital mission to our community and to those who belong to our congregation. The church supports the school through prayer, volunteer efforts and financial support.

Tuition:
Immanuel Lutheran School’s tuition is lower than most of the private Christian schools in Memphis. This is due, in part, because our church supports the school with over $200,000 in annual support.

Accreditation:
Immanuel Lutheran School has been accredited by National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) since 1991.

Being an accredited school is a high honor and should be perceived as the highest accreditation a Lutheran school could achieve because it evaluates the true nature and purpose of the school.

Most accrediting programs are secular in nature, sponsored by the state or a regional agency.  These agencies and their accreditation standards and processes do not concern themselves with the spiritual dimension of schools.

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF LUTHERAN SCHOOLS IS TO PROCLAIM JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR.

This is done through worship, Christian faith classes, and the permeation of faith throughout the day in each subject.

National accreditation also ties us to our sister Lutheran schools across the United States. There are approximately 2,000 Lutheran elementary schools, of which 672 are accredited. Immanuel Lutheran is proud to be numbered among those schools that are fully accredited.

Standardized Tests:
On average, our students rank at the 73rd percentile (above average) compared to students across the nation in their Stanford Achievement annual assessment.

On average, our teachers have 18 years of experience and 50% hold Master’s Degrees

Campus:
Our 14-acre campus consists of six buildings housing classrooms, a gymnasium, kitchen, cafeteria, library, worship center, computer lab, STEMM Lab, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, and playgrounds.
